Orange Juice and Its Health Benefits

The most common juice that's available at the market either canned, bottled, or freshly squeezed. Popular for its high Vitamin C content, that's one of the reasons why I love this juice so much. Delicious and nutritious and available all year round. I read some information about the orange juice and here is what I can share.

This chart below is the nutritional value of an 8 ounces orange juice.

To obtain an 8 ounces juice we need 4 medium size oranges, slice into halves and press it in the juice extractor.

Following are some of its health benefits:

Decreases Bad Cholesterol Levels
Regular orange juice consumption may decrease low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels in patients with high cholesterol, suggests a study published in the October 2010 issue of the “Nutrition Research.” However, the mechanism behind this blood cholesterol level improvement is still unclear. Further studies and clinical trials are necessary to further establish this fact.

Protects Against Inflammation
The intake of glucose and high-fat meals induces the development of inflammatory reactions within the body. Inflammatory reactions lead to the development of increased insulin resistance, a common cause of Type 2 diabetes and atherosclerosis, the hardening of blood vessel walls due to fat deposition. As mentioned in a study published in the April 2010 “The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition,” the intake of orange juice, together with a high-carbohydrate, high-fat meal, prevents the occurrence of inflammation within the body, making it a good preventive measure against the development of insulin resistance and atherosclerosis.

Green Apple Juice

I like the sweet taste of this juice, its refreshing and a good reliever for sweet tooth cravings. This is also very nutritious according to what I've read from Livestrong "Apples are a rich source of nutrients and contain high levels of antioxidants. Apples have a number of documented health benefits. Including apples and pure apple juice as part of your well balanced diet will help protect against diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease and cancer. Drinking 100 percent pure apple juice is one way to gain the benefits offered by apples. You can purchase either green apple juice or red apple juice. Green apple juice has a slight pucker as compared to the sweet taste of red apple juice."
